RHODE ISLAND GREENING
MENDOCINO COUNTY 7.1% ABV Rhode Island Greening from our California Farms Series, focuses on the namesake apple of this cider grown by Stuart Beck at Greenwood Ranch near Elk, CA in Mendocino County. This orchard was planted during the Depression Era, about two miles from the Pacific Ocean. On a site that sits about 1500 ft. above sea level. On a clear day, the orchard gets great sun, but the cool foggy nights provide enough moisture for the orchard to remain dry-farmed. 2018 was a great crop, where a super dry bloom gave life to these 80+ year old trees, and produced a bountiful year. Our Rhode Island Greening cider is a rich, golden straw hue, with robust layers of apple aromatics. Dry-farming contributes a complex minerality on the palate, but is balanced with a lively, tart finish. Pair this cider with Rabbit, Brussels Sprouts, or Waldorf Salad. |
