devoto orchards - sebastopol, californiaDevoto Orchard sits on an area of land known as "Gold Ridge" in Sebastopol, California, which is known to produce some of the world's best apples and Pinot Noir grapes. Because of the proximity to the coastline, Devoto Orchards is able to dry farm the trees (cultivation without additional irrigation) and are certified organic, growing 26 acres of mainly heirloom apple varieties and some hybridized varieties.
The Devoto family have been growing heirloom apples and field-grown flowers since 1976. They started their farm in the Sebastopol hills with only 2.5 acres and quickly discovered the quality of their terroir in this renown growing region. Stan and Susan Devoto helped cultivate a market for heirloom apples in the Bay Area, now growing over 100 varieties. Before becoming apple farmers, they were the original growers of microgreens in California and sold their gorgeous flower and green salad mix to restaurants. Back to list of Our Farmers. |
