Our Rhode Island Greening apples are grown about two miles from the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day, this orchard gets great sun, but the cool foggy nights provide enough moisture for this orchard to remain dry-farmed. The combination of the maritime climate and coastal terroir provide Rhode Island Greening robust layers of aromatics, a complex minerality on the palate and a lively, tart finish.

GREENWOOD RANCH
Mendocino County

Stuart Beck's Greenwood Ranch was  planted during the 1935 depression era, about two miles from the Pacific Ocean, on a site that sits at 1,500 ft above sea level. This orchard receives all of the benefits of a coastal terroir including a maritime climate of warm days and cool, foggy nights. The consistent moisture in the marine air allows the orchard to be dry-farmed, yielding a consistently rich and flavorful crop. Home to 80+ year old trees and 4 varietals with the majority being Rhode Island Greening.
